Classes & Locations
Classes and locations are accounting dimensions you attach to transaction lines. They let one chart of accounts answer many questions — profit by store, spend by department, margin by program — without exploding your account list.
Key capabilities
- Define a list of classes (e.g. program, department, product line)
- Define a list of locations (e.g. store, region, branch)
- Tag invoice, bill, and journal-entry lines with a class and/or location
- Filter the P&L and balance sheet by class or location
- Reuse the same accounts across every dimension instead of duplicating them
How it works
Each class or location is a label stored on the transaction line. Reports group and filter by those labels, so you get a profit & loss for one location or one class out of the same underlying postings.
How to use it
- Open Classes & Locations and add the classes and locations you want to track.
- When entering invoices, bills, or journal entries, tag the lines with the right class/location.
- Run the income statement or balance sheet and filter by a class or location to see that slice.
